Fees & pricing

Transparent, straightforward fees

At The Why Psychology, we believe accessing psychological care should be as transparent and straightforward as possible. If you have any questions about fees, Medicare rebates or referrals, we're happy to discuss these with you before your first appointment.

We charge below the Australian Psychological Society's recommended rate to support affordability across our assessment and therapy services. The APS recommended fee for a standard 40–60 minute consultation in 2025–2026 is $318.

Payment

Payment is required at the completion of each appointment. We accept electronic payment methods, and Medicare rebates can be processed immediately following your consultation where eligible.

Cancellation policy

We ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations (under 48 hours) and missed appointments may incur a cancellation fee of up to the full session fee. We understand that unexpected things happen — please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.

Concession and reduced fees

We are committed to making psychological support accessible. A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available for clients experiencing financial hardship. NGO referrals can be discussed and may qualify for amended rates. Please contact us to discuss your circumstances — we'll do our best to find a workable arrangement.
